NEW BEDFORD, MA — On January 6th, 2009, the New Bedford City Council met to choose their chairperson for the year. As reported by the other media outlets Councilor John Saunders was the appointee. I say the appointee as there was no public discussion, just a mediocre coronation. As Councilor Saunders delivered his “Oh thank you what a shock and a surprise pre-written speech”, he was quite clear with regard to how he intended to cooperate with our current dictator, King...I mean Mayor Snot Lang.... New Bedford, MA - OPINION — Stealing from the public is OK as long as you do it under the guise of a community project. Doesn't matter if the funds are raised by taxes or school children, just matters that there is a lot of it. The folks who engage in this monetary shenanigans are a colorful bunch and I betcha you elected them or they paid to convince you to elect their friends. Best part is, if they get caught, the worst that happens is they receive a mild thumping in the press and then it's back to the pot of public delights. The public soon forgets or soon loses interest to more important issues like Barack Obama's wife's designer clothes or whether their expected family dog is a Shitzue or a Yorkie. - - Write Comment
